The Central Services team is responsible for the construction, maintenance and care of Council's assets including buildings, roads, drainage, footpaths, traffic facilities, signs, Playgrounds, and associated council infrastructure. We currently have a vacancy for an experienced Building Project Officer who will directly manage the delivery phase of assigned construction projects which will range in size and complexity. The successful applicant will directly manage budget, Scope, Procurement of contractors, oversee the successful delivery of works as per the agreed outcomes and provide ongoing reporting on status.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following key skills and attributes:
- Current Class C Driver's licence
- Construction Induction Certificate (White Card)
- Trades level qualifications in construction management and project management or similar
- Supervisory, communication (verbal and written), problem solving and time management skills
- High level knowledge of Building Codes of Australia and Australian Standards along with design and construction processes for building and civil engineering projects, commercial contractual arrangements, legislation and codes of practice.
- Experience in planning, estimating, programming, documenting contract packages in the building/construction disciplines.
- Strong knowledge of Local Government Procurement and Contractor management principles.
