Financial Controller
Triskele Labs
About Triskele Labs
Triskele Labs is a leading provider of cybersecurity services. Our focus is partnering with our clients to deliver cyber services that matter: Enterprise delivery from a partner that cares. The same runs through our team. We focus on empowering our people in their roles to deliver on what really matters for our team and our clients. We have experienced continual year on year growth, and we are now looking to bolster the team with a Financial Controller who wants to take this role and own it end to end.
Requirements
About the role
Our finance function is going through a period of transition and investment, and we are strengthening the team at its core. The Financial Controller is the engine room of the function: you will own the close, the compliance calendar, the audit and our transactional team. You will put in place the documented processes and controls that a scaling business needs.
You will report to the CFO and work closely with an engaged executive team. The division of labour is deliberate: the CFO owns strategy, pricing and the executive reporting architecture, and you make the numbers underneath it trustworthy.
This is a hands-on role with a commercial edge. We are not looking for a pure technical accountant who closes the books and stops there. The margin, cost-to-serve and working capital questions this business is working through need a Controller who finds that work interesting and wants a seat at the table for it.
One thing is non-negotiable: AI and LLM literacy. Triskele Labs is going through a considerable shift to focus on AI tooling. Reporting is produced with AI agents, analysis is built as live artefacts rather than static spreadsheets, and LLM tools are part of daily work, not an occasional experiment. You need to walk in on day one already comfortable working this way. If you have never used Claude, ChatGPT or similar tools to build reports, interrogate data or automate parts of your own workflow, this is not the right role for you.
Function
The finance team comprises the CFO, this role, and an transactional team covering accounts payable, with accounts receivable and billing being added. The Financial Controller is the senior operational finance role in the business and supervises the operational team. As the function grows, this role grows with it, including future hires reporting to you.
- The close. Own month-end and year-end close end to end: reconciliations, accruals, journals and review, on a documented, repeatable cadence.
- Revenue recognition. Recurring MDR contract revenue alongside project-based Professional Services engagements.
- Compliance. BAS, superannuation, payroll tax, FBT and ATO obligations met on time, every time.
- Audit. Own the auditor relationship and deliver an audit-ready year-end file.
- Payroll. Review and release through Xero Payroll, including STP finalisation.
- Supervision. Direct, review and develop our transactional team.
- Working capital. Run the collections rhythm, manage aged receivables and keep supplier payment discipline tight.
- Documentation and controls. Maintain a close checklist, controls register and process notes in our knowledge base so the function never depends on a single person.
- Reporting production. Partner with the CFO to produce the monthly executive reporting suite using AI agents, building live artefacts and dashboards rather than static packs, so your time goes to accuracy and insight.
- AI tooling. Use LLM tools daily across the function: drafting and reviewing reconciliation commentary, interrogating Xero data, building and refining reporting artefacts, and improving the agents and prompts we already run.
About you
- CA or CPA qualified with at least 6 years of experience, including time as a Financial Controller or Finance Manager where you personally ran the close.
- A services background: professional services, technology, managed services or similar, where recurring contract revenue and project billing sit side by side.
- Strong Xero experience, including Xero Payroll.
- Experience supervising transactional teams, or the temperament to do it well: clear instructions, tight review, genuine development.
- Commercially curious. You read the margin story behind the numbers and would rather explain why a service line is drifting than simply report that it is.
- AI and LLM literate. This is essential, not preferred. You already use tools like Claude or ChatGPT in your day-to-day finance work: building reports and artefacts, querying and summarising data, drafting commentary, automating the repetitive parts of your role. You can demonstrate this in an interview and be productive with our tooling from day one.
- A systems thinker who documents as they go and builds processes that survive them.
- Direct and fast-moving. We are a Slack-first business with clear escalation and no surprises.
