About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Asset Class Manager – Capacity & Distribution, you'll play an important role in the planning, optimisation and long-term stewardship of Jemena's gas distribution network.

Working alongside asset management, operations, project delivery and commercial teams, you'll help ensure our network remains safe, reliable and fit for the future. You'll contribute to strategic decision-making, identify opportunities for improvement and help deliver practical engineering solutions that balance customer needs, risk, sustainability and long-term value.

This role offers the opportunity to develop your expertise across asset management, capacity planning, network performance and capital investment while working with experienced and supportive colleagues.

Supporting Asset Strategy and Long-Term Planning

  • Contribute engineering analysis and recommendations that support asset and capacity strategies.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve network performance, reliability and safety.
  • Support risk assessments, integrity reviews and long-term investment planning.
  • Develop Opportunity Briefs and scopes of work that enable informed business decisions.

Improving Network Performance and Capacity

  • Assess network capacity, utilisation and performance trends.
  • Help identify practical and sustainable solutions to emerging network challenges.
  • Contribute to supply assurance planning and network optimisation initiatives.
  • Evaluate options that balance customer outcomes, operational requirements, risk and expenditure.

Working Across Projects and Stakeholders

  • Provide engineering input to capital projects and externally initiated works.
  • Collaborate with project teams, operational teams, consultants and contractors.
  • Build strong working relationships across the business to achieve shared outcomes.
  • Support commissioning, handover and implementation activities.

Providing Operational Engineering Support

  • Assist operational teams with technical advice and engineering guidance.
  • Support investigations, troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to performance reporting and identification of emerging risks and opportunities.

About You

We're looking for someone who enjoys learning, collaborating and working through complex challenges with others.

You may bring experience in some or many of the following areas:

  • Engineering qualification in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil or a related discipline.
  • Experience within utilities, energy, gas distribution, water, infrastructure or asset-intensive industries.
  • Exposure to asset management, network planning, capacity management or infrastructure development.
  • Strong analytical thinking and the ability to communicate technical information clearly and effectively.
  • An interest in balancing safety, reliability, customer outcomes and long-term asset performance.
  • Knowledge of relevant Australian standards and regulatory frameworks is desirable.
  • A collaborative approach and a willingness to contribute to team success.
