Context statement

The position serves as the welcoming face of Royal Darwin Hospital, acting as the primary point of contact for patients,

visitors, and staff. Operating in a busy healthcare environment, the role is responsible for delivering efficient reception and

administrative support while ensuring all individuals are welcomed, assisted, and supported. It requires a strong commitment

to patient-centred care, with the ability to build trust and demonstrate respect in all interactions.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Provide a friendly, professional, and respectful front-line reception service, delivering a high level of customer-focused

support to Royal Darwin Hospital patients, visitors, and staff.

2. Provide administrative support to the Consumer Engagement team, including collecting and entering consumer

feedback, assisting with procurement processes, supporting data collection activities, contributing to volunteer

coordination, and assisting with event planning and delivery.

3. Adhere to defined service quality standards, and comply with work health and safety policies and procedures to ensure

the delivery of safe, high-quality services and a safe workplace environment.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Well-developed oral and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to interact professionally, clearly, and

empathetically with patients, visitors, and staff, both face-to-face and via telephone.

2. Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, remain calm, and perform effectively under pressure in a busy,

fast-paced, and culturally diverse healthcare environment.

3. Proven organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work independently, use initiative, and meet

deadlines with minimal supervision.

4. Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion, tact, and a high level of

professionalism.

5. Competency in a range of computer systems and applications, with a high level of accuracy in data entry, document

preparation, and information retrieval.

6. Proven experience in providing front-of-house reception and administrative support, including managing incoming calls,

emails, and visitor enquiries

7. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively, respectfully, and sensitively with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
