Your new role
As a Claims Manager or Senior Claims Manager, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of life insurance claims, predominantly Income Protection, with some TPD exposure.
This is a hands‑on claims role, not a leadership or people management position. You will manage claims end‑to‑end, focusing on benefit management, return‑to‑work outcomes, and clear, defensible decision‑making.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing a portfolio of IP and TPD claims (average 50 claims)
- Assessing entitlement through medical, vocational, and contractual evidence
- Managing ongoing benefit payments and pending claims
- Engaging with members, employers, and medical providers
- Making clear, timely, and well‑reasoned claim decisions
- Handling more complex matters and technical queries (senior level)
- Contributing to consistent, high‑quality customer outcomes
Senior roles operate with greater autonomy and act as a technical reference point
What you'll need to succeed
Claims Manager
- At least 12 months recent experience managing life insurance claims
- Exposure to Income Protection and/or TPD claims
- Strong understanding of benefit management and pending claims
Senior Claims Manager
- At least 2 years recent experience in IP and TPD
- Strong knowledge of insurance contracts and complex decision‑making
- Ability to manage technical issues independently
For both:
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to manage workload in a performance‑focused environment
- Genuine interest in supporting members through complex circumstances
