What You'll Be Doing

As the Clinical Nurse Consultant – AYA, you will provide expert clinical consultancy, leadership and specialist nursing support to patients, families and healthcare professionals. You will drive evidence-based practice, lead quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the ongoing development of services that deliver exceptional patient-centred care.

In Your Role You Will Be Responsible For

  • Deliver advanced clinical consultancy and expert specialist nursing care across complex clinical environments.
  • Lead and support quality improvement initiatives, service development and innovative models of care.
  • Provide clinical leadership, mentoring and education to nurses and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Initiate, lead and apply research that strengthens clinical practice and improves patient outcomes.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, project management and the ongoing evaluation of AYA services.

Essential Criteria

  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

Selection Criteria

  • A Registered Nurse who has at least 7 years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least 5 years full time equivalent experience in the specialty field.
  • The applicant must have approved postgraduate nursing/midwifery qualifications relevant to the field in which he/she is appointed, or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisation.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply expert clinical knowledge, to provide safe and compassionate care that is culturally responsive.
  • Ability to develop direction in clinical practice by the initiation, ulilisation and review of evidence based research.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify service improvement opportunities, including the capacity to initiate change and negotiate support from key interest holders across the organisation.
  • Demonstrated application of highly developed verbal and written communication to debate complex concepts with experts and support long term relationships with broad range interest holders.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and lead change at an organisational level that supports strategic directions and enhance clinical practice and service delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically, problem solve and make timely and sound clinical decisions whilst working autonomously e.g. understanding the application of evidence based practice, risk reduction and management and the principles of continuous quality improvement.
