Carpenter - North Shore Based

A solid on-tools carpenter role at a builder doing things differently.

LikeSilk is a new kind of Sydney builder. The work is still the work - good craft, clean finishes, traditional carpentry. What's different is everything around it: real systems and modern tools instead of WhatsApp groups and clipboards.

We do North Shore renovations - bathrooms, kitchens, whole-home renos, typically $200k to $1M. We're newly launched but not new to the work: Cam (Builder, Licence 274849C) has worked every role in construction and built LikeSilk to run differently from the inside out. Kate's background is in SaaS product strategy, so the customer experience and back-office are built to actually function. We're not pretending it's all polished yet - we're a young business putting the picture together as we grow, and the people we hire now will have a real hand in shaping how it runs. Our promise to clients: the build is the outcome, the experience is the product.

We're growing our team and need a Carpenter to work alongside our Leading Hand and our apprentice on our active jobs.

The role - a typical week

• On the tools full-time. Framing, fixing, hanging doors, finish work, whatever the job needs.
• Working day-to-day alongside our Leading Hand and our Apprentice. Direct line to Cam and Kate where needed - no layers.
• Run your own tasks without being micromanaged. We trust qualified chippies to get on with it.
• Hold the quality line on the finish. Details matter on the kind of work we do.
• Work across 1-2 active jobs at a time. Mostly North Shore, sometimes further across Sydney.
• Get involved in how we run as we figure things out. Your input shapes the systems you'll work with.

About you

• Cert III in Carpentry (or equivalent on-the-tools track record)
• NSW White Card and a current driver's licence
• Your own ute and tool kit
• 4+ years on the tools. Qualified, can run your own work without hand-holding
• Generalist - comfortable across framing, fixing, and finish work
• Take pride in a clean site and a tidy finish
• Open to working with our systems and tools - some are still being figured out, and your input shapes what they become
