Investment Analyst - Family Office
FourQuarters Recruitment
Position: Investment Analyst – Single Family Office | Melbourne
FourQuarters are partnering exclusively with a Melbourne-based Single Family Office to find an Investment Analyst. This is a rare opportunity to work inside a well-resourced, privately held family office that manages a diversified portfolio across public markets and private markets.
The Organisation
Our client is a Single Family Office established to manage and grow the long-term wealth of its principal family. Portfolio spans Global and Australian Listed Equities, Credit, Real Estate, Infrastructure, Private Equity, Venture Capital and more.
The Role
- Conducting investment research and due diligence across asset classes, including the preparation of investment reports, due diligence documentation, and draft recommendations.
- Preparing Investment Committee papers, agendas, and formal investment presentations; attending meetings and managing follow-up actions.
- Reviewing periodic reports from external investment managers and escalating areas of concern.
- Supporting portfolio monitoring, monthly performance reporting, and cashflow forecasting.
- Contributing to asset allocation reviews, thematic research projects, and broader market and economic analysis.
- Assisting with the implementation of approved investment decisions and maintaining internal investment databases.
- Working closely with the Investment Reporting Analyst, including providing coverage across key reporting functions during periods of absence.
The Culture
The organisation operates with a clear emphasis on working smart rather than simply working hard. Routine and repetitive tasks are outsourced where appropriate, allowing the internal team to focus on oversight, judgement, and higher-order activities. Team members are expected to take ownership of their responsibilities, contribute beyond defined role boundaries, and actively identify opportunities to enhance processes and outcomes.
The family office embraces the use of technology and artificial intelligence as genuine productivity tools. The team has proactively adopted AI tools across a range of workflows, and the incoming analyst will be expected to engage with this approach with openness and initiative.
What We're Looking For
You'll have 4-5 years of investment analysis experience in an investment, funds management, or investment consulting environment, and you'll be comfortable working across both listed and unlisted asset classes. An undergraduate degree in finance, economics, or a related field is expected; a CFA (or progress toward it) is well regarded.
Beyond the technical, the fit matters here given the nature of the size of the family office. The right person will be intellectually curious, detail-oriented, and genuinely motivated by the work. You'll need strong presentation and verbal communication skills, because a meaningful part of this role involves preparing materials for senior stakeholders and the Investment Committee.
