Position Type: Permanent Full Time (9 day fortnight, 36.25 hours/week)
Salary Range: Base Salary $98,692 - $116,112 per annum + super (dependent on skills and qualifications)

Who We Are
We are a small design team working with Traffic, Geotechnical and Civil Engineers in the Civil team. The Civil team is part of a team of technical experts specialising in Civil, Stormwater, Open Space and Asset Management. We deliver essential infrastructure for the community and play a key role in shaping Townsville’s future.
Your Role
As a Designer Civil, you’ll be hands-on in the design of civil projects, particularly roadworks and stormwater drainage, contributing to the planning, construction and ongoing maintenance of vital infrastructure. From preparing clear, accurate drawings and estimates so that the infrastructure can be delivered, you’ll see your work move from concept through to construction, making a real difference out on the ground.
You’ll make sure designs are practical, accurate and meet Council standards, while keeping stakeholders informed along the way. You’ll be able to work on a diversity of projects from small kerb and channel replacements, road reconstruction s and major intersection upgrades.
About You
Ideally you will have:
- Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or approved equivalent.
- Experience in road works, stormwater drainage and traffic infrastructure design.
- A working knowledge of open space, irrigation, water and wastewater design is desirable.
- Well-developed knowledge of computer aided design and drafting software (e.g. AutoCAD, 12D), including the Microsoft Office suite of applications.
- A sound working knowledge of design procedures used by Main Roads and other external agencies within a Local Authority area.
- Working knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation including: engineering guidelines (Australian Rainfall and Runoff, Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices, Austroads, Water Services Association of Australia), Aus-Spec and relevant Australian Standards and Work Health and Safety principles.
- Knowledge of quality assurance systems and environmental management systems and their application to the design of civil engineering infrastructure and projects.
- Well-developed knowledge and experience in the interpretation of survey information.
