The Opportunity

We are seeking a motivated Graduate / Junior Mechanical Engineer to join our team with a strong focus on new product development. This role suits someone early in their career who wants hands-on exposure across the full product lifecycle - working closely with manufacturing, quality and operations in a real production environment.

Key Responsibilities (Product Development Focus)

  • Assist with concept development and design of new lifting/rigging products.
  • Produce 3D CAD models and detailed drawings, including GD&T and manufacturing documentation.
  • Apply Design for Manufacture principles to ensure designs suit forging, machining and fabrication processes.
  • Support procurement of raw materials including steel/alloy selection and supplier coordination.
  • Coordinate prototype builds across forging, machining and fabrication teams, and assist with first‑off part reviews.
  • Liaise with external suppliers for heat treatment, casting, and surface coating processes.
  • Participate in product testing including destructive testing, proof‑load testing and non‑destructive testing (MPI/UT).
  • Work with production teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and align with in‑house and sub-contract capabilities.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement related to product performance, quality and production efficiency.
  • Maintain engineering documentation including drawings, revisions, BOMs and design records.

About You

  • Degree-qualified (or near completion) in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Strong interest in product design and development in a manufacturing setting.
  • Comfortable in a workshop/production environment and keen to learn from practical application.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively across engineering, production, and management.

Highly Desirable

  • CAD experience (SolidWorks or similar)
  • Exposure to manufacturing processes (metal fabrication, machining, assembly or quality systems).
  • Understanding of designing for safety-critical or load-rated components (training provided where required).
