The Property Council of Australia is seeking a dynamic WA Commercial Director to drive commercial success, elevate member experience and shape a compelling events and sponsorship program in Western Australia.

About the role

Reporting to the WA Executive Director, the WA Commercial Director is responsible for driving strong commercial performance and delivering exceptional member services and value across the WA Division.

You’ll lead commercial strategy across sponsorship, membership growth and retention, events, financial performance and team leadership, ensuring our commercial activities align with the Property Council’s broader strategic priorities.

You’ll also lead and support the WA Event team, work closely with internal stakeholders across membership, advocacy, finance and marketing, and build strong relationships with members, sponsors and committee representatives.

What you’ll be doing

• Drive sponsorship growth by identifying opportunities, developing compelling proposals, negotiating agreements and building strong long-term sponsor relationships

• Grow and retain membership by partnering with Membership Central on strategies, campaigns and member engagement initiatives

• Lead the WA events program to deliver high-quality, commercially successful and strategically aligned events that support our advocacy agenda

• Manage budgets and reporting including forecasting, performance tracking and providing high-quality insights to leadership and committees

• Lead and develop your team by fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, high performance and one-company thinking

• Enhance the member and sponsor experience through innovation, responsiveness and a strong service mindset

Additional requirements

• Attendance at member events is required, including some events held outside standard business hours

• Occasional interstate travel may be required

What you'll bring

We’re looking for a confident and capable commercial leader with a strong track record in business development and stakeholder engagement

You will ideally have

• At least 5 years’ experience in business development, commercial growth, sponsorship or partnership development

• Proven success in negotiation, conversion and revenue generation

• Demonstrated experience leading, coaching and developing a high-performing team

• Strong financial acumen, including experience with budget development, tracking, forecasting and reporting

• Excellent relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and engage a wide range of stakeholders

• Exceptional written, verbal and presentation skills

• A proactive, solutions-focused approach and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively
