The opportunity
This is implementation and training, not technical installation. You'll be the primary guide for dealership customers through configuration, training, and go-live of Pentana's integrated payments product. Configuration is done via UI, not code. The work is delivered remotely - online training, video calls, screen-shares. The physical terminal installs are handled by partners.
Power Payments implementation is your primary focus. You'll also be cross-trained across our other products and step into installs across the wider portfolio when needed - we cross-train all our installers to give us the agility we need at different points in the year.
Revenue is tied to go-live cadence, so the speed of what you do matters commercially. Two roles in Wave 1, with room for a mix - one more experienced hire and one earlier-career hire with the right attitude.
Why this role exists right now
Pentana Power Payments is the integrated payments solution inside our dealer management software, and we're investing dedicated resource to drive adoption. The sales side is being scaled with two new BDMs. The Installation Specialist role is the other half of that motion - getting customers live, billing, and using the product properly once the partner has supplied the terminal.
You'll report to our Installations Lead. You'll work most closely with the Power Payments BDMs (handover from sale to implementation), the payment partners (coordinating physical install timing), and dealership financial controllers (your primary trained audience).
What you'll bring
• Background in dealership admin or back office, bookkeeping, or payroll. Alternative: strong customer support or implementation experience with appetite to learn accounting workflows.
• Comfort engaging financial controllers and their teams - you'll be in front of them often.
• Working understanding of invoices, reconciliations, and GL basics.
• Excellent communication and training skills. You can hold a room remotely.
• Proactive and self-managed. You're comfortable owning your own pipeline.
• Willingness to cross-train across other Pentana products and step into wider installation work when needed.
• Automotive dealership systems experience would be an added bonus.
• Payments or POS implementation background welcome (Xero, MYOB, Tyro, Reckon alumni).
What to expect
Two things to know going in. First, Pentana is an office-based business - if you live within commuting distance of Mount Waverley, you'll be expected in the office. "Remote installs" means we don't go to dealership sites, it doesn't mean the role is fully remote. Occasional travel is required from time to time, though rare.
Second, the commercial outcome is tied directly to your speed - revenue starts when the dealership goes live, not when you start training them. If you need close supervision to deliver, this isn't the role. If you can manage your own pipeline and care about getting customers actually using the product, you'll thrive.
