Business Analyst
Pentana Solutions
Pentana Solutions has been powering the Australian automotive industry for over 50 years. We're continuing to invest significantly in our product, further enhancing our existing platform with a modern AI-led approach. Around 1 in 3 of our staff use internal AI tools every business day. The work is real, the customers are demanding, and we're hiring.
The opportunity
You'll sit inside a product squad, helping scope and build new automotive software. Early on you'll be out talking to customers and learning how dealerships actually run, turning what you hear into clear requirements and acceptance criteria the squad can build from. You'll work shoulder to shoulder with a product manager and your squad lead, and you'll run the sprint ceremonies that keep the build moving.
This is a business analyst role, not an engineering one. You don't need to write code. You do need to understand a business process well enough to question it, define it, and hand the squad something they can act on.
Why this role exists right now
We're scoping and building across two product streams, service and accounting. The accounting product is well advanced; the service product is the next big build. We need analysts who can get under the skin of the business fast and turn messy, real-world process into clean, buildable requirements, at pace.
We're hiring at mid and junior level. The junior we're after is someone early in their BA path with solid fundamentals and real hunger, not someone who has simply decided a BA role sounds like a good next step. You'll report to your squad lead day to day, with your standards held by our BA guild.
What you'll bring
• A strong grasp of business process. You can take a messy, real-world process, question it, and turn it into clear requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Comfort working with AI. You can prompt AI to draft user stories and acceptance criteria, then judge the output critically and sharpen it. We build with AI here, not around it.
• Customer-facing confidence. Scoping means sitting with customers and non-technical stakeholders and drawing out the real picture. You're as comfortable there as you are with the squad.
• Enough technical understanding to question engineering judgement, without needing to be technical yourself. The focus is the business.
• A fast-learning mindset. You won't know automotive or our DMS on day one, and that's fine. You will need to pick it up in weeks, with our training and your own appetite.
• Agile delivery in your bones. You can run sprint ceremonies and keep a squad's planning honest.
• A background in automotive, retail, logistics or manufacturing would be an added bonus.
What to expect
Two things to know going in. First, the biggest hill is the domain. You'll be learning the automotive world and our DMS from a standing start, and the programme moves too fast to carry passengers, so you'll get up to speed in weeks, not months. We have the training to help, but the appetite has to come from you. Second, this role has a real customer-facing edge. If you're a BA who is most comfortable behind a screen and goes quiet in front of a non-technical stakeholder, this won't play to your strengths.
What's in it for you
• Pace. You'll work on one of the most significant transformation programmes in Australian automotive software, and it's already shipping.
• Meaningful work. You'll help shape the product that runs Australian dealerships, and the requirements you write will sit in production for years.
• A clear lane. No exec gatekeeping and no two-week approval cycles. Decisions get made in the room.
• Room to grow. People move around and up here. Get the fundamentals right and there's a path well beyond this role.
We're all about celebrating diversity and creating an inclusive, respectful team. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, including Indigenous Australians, people of colour, LGBTIQA+, and those with disabilities.
If you can turn a messy business problem into something a squad can build, and you'd rather get into the detail than theorise about it, let's talk. Apply now.
