Apply your spatial expertise and tertiary qualifications in Spatial, Environmental or Natural Resource Science to support evidence-based natural resource management programs.

  • Provide specialised advice and delivery support for environmental spatial data and GIS applications.
  • Develop, manage and publish spatial datasets through enterprise and web mapping platforms.
  • Resource Maps, ArcGIS Server web services and Oracle Spatial Database.

The Department of Lands, Planning and Environment’s Geospatial Services Unit provides spatial expertise, standards and services that support the effective use of environmental and scientific data across the Department. The unit works closely with divisions to deliver high-quality spatial datasets that support planning, policy, research, and regulation.

As a Spatial Systems Administrator, your primary objective is to manage, maintain and publish environmental spatial data and GIS applications to meet departmental business needs and support natural resource management programs. The role focuses on ensuring spatial information is accurate, well-governed and accessible through enterprise and web mapping applications.

Your key duties include working with scientists, planners and stakeholders to manage environmental spatial datasets, contribute to the development and maintenance of GIS and web-mapping applications, and support the publication of spatial data to internal and external users. You will also assist in the development and adoption of spatial data standards, workflows and best practices across the Department.

This role will make strong use of your industry experience and tertiary qualifications in spatial science, environmental science or a related discipline, supported by your demonstrated ability to work confidently with spatial data, GIS platforms and stakeholders in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
