Plant Manager

Sharp & Carter

About the Company

Our client is a privately owned, vertically integrated meat business operating across the full supply chain, from livestock through to processing and global export. The business has a strong domestic presence and a significant international footprint, with the majority of production exported to premium markets worldwide. Back by a long-tenured leadership team and a strong record of reinvestment, the organisation is continuing to invest heavily in its flagship processing operation, with major capital projects and expansion underway.

The Opportunity

This is a senior site leadership role at a large meat processing operation. This is a high-volume facility running six days per week with a total workforce of over 800 headcount. This role carries real weight, full accountability for site performance, leadership and outcomes across a complex food manufacturing operation.

The business is looking for a leader to take ownership of their processing operation and drive its next phase of growth, performance and capability.

Please note that this is a meat processing facility that includes an active abattoir.

The Role

You will take end-to-end ownership of plant operations, from manufacturing, processing through to dispatch.

This is not a desk role. You are expected to be visible on site, close to the floor, and actively driving performance while holding your plant leadership team to account.

  • Lead all site operations.
  • Own the full site P&L, including labour, cost, yield and margin performance.
  • Lead a team of six senior functional leaders, each running sizeable downstream teams.
  • Drive daily performance across throughput, downtime, yield and labour efficiency.
  • Build capability across a large, multi-layered workforce.
  • Partner closely with engineering on capital delivery and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance across safety and quality.

About You

  • You have led a Plant or Site or Manufacturing Operation before, with full operational and commercial P&L accountability.
  • Background in FMCG, food manufacturing, meat processing or comparable high-volume processing.
  • Experience leading large, complex workforces through multiple layers of leadership.
  • Strong commercial acumen across cost, yield and performance drivers.
  • Hands-on, visible leadership style - practical and credible on the floor.
  • The ability to balance people leadership with hard performance outcomes.
