Green Light is delivering a project for an industry-leading organisation and has a requirement for a Network Security Engineer to join our delivery team. This role is well suited to someone early in their career or transitioning into network security who is looking to build experience in secure gateway environments, network operations, and enterprise security infrastructure.
The position focuses on network security operations, device management, monitoring, and incident response, with exposure to customer-facing gateway environments and high-availability systems supporting critical services.
Working as part of a collaborative technical team, you will support the ongoing management and optimisation of secure network infrastructure. You will gain hands-on experience across device configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and change activities, while being supported by experienced engineers within the team.
Please note this role does require an active AGSVA NV1 clearance at a minimum. Consultants that do not hold this minimum requirement will not be considered. Also, the role is 100% onsite and is in a 24/7 environment on shift work.
Responsibilities
- Support configuration and management of network security devices, including firewalls, routers, proxies, DNS services, and load balancers
- Assist with change management processes, including preparation, implementation, and documentation of changes across gateway environments
- Perform monitoring of systems and network health, responding to alerts and ensuring continuous service availability
- Support incident resolution activities, working with customers to diagnose and resolve network traffic and connectivity issues
- Perform ticket triage, prioritisation, and management in line with SLA requirements
- Contribute to day-to-day operational support of secure gateway infrastructure
- Maintain clear internal and external communication with stakeholders and customers
- Assist in maintaining documentation, standards, and operational procedures
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience as a Network Operations Engineer and/or Administrator
- Exposure to networking fundamentals, including IP addressing, DNS, routing, and switching
- Familiarity with network security concepts, including firewalls, proxies, and access controls
- Experience with or exposure to Linux, virtualization platforms, or enterprise infrastructure environments is advantageous
- Understanding of incident management, monitoring tools, and service desk processes
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented, customer-facing environment
- Willingness to work in a 24/7 rotating shift roster
