Sydney Local Health District is recruiting motivated Registered Nurses (Year 2+) to join our 12 month Cardiac Transition to Specialty Practice Program. Designed and delivered with Sydney Education, this program supports your transition into cardiac specialty nursing across Concord Repatriation General Hospital.
What the Program Offers
Three clinical rotations across key cardiac settings
Five cardiac study days
Simulation training, eLearning, and reflective practice
Monthly clinical supervision and ongoing team support
Orientation and supernumerary time for each rotation
Eligibility for academic credit with the University of Tasmania
The program includes Cardiology, Coronary Care Unit (CCU) and the Cardiac Cath Lab.
- Successful applicants will be able to submit preferences for their rotations
- All applicants will gain critical care exposure in either Coronary Care Unit or Cardiac Cath Lab at a minimum
- Applicants will be able to preference either Cardiac Cath Lab or Coronary Care Unit as their elective rotation
Applicants will all rotate through core rotations in Cardiology Ward and Coronary Care Unit
What You’ll Gain
Strong understanding of cardiac and thoracic disease
Advanced assessment and acute cardiac care skills
Confidence managing pharmaceutical, interventional, and surgical treatments
Ability to evaluate therapeutic outcomes and apply evidence based practice
A pathway toward postgraduate cardiac nursing studies
Who We’re Looking For
Registered Nurses with 12+ months acute care experience who are ready to grow into safe, independent cardiac clinicians.
