About the role

Reporting to the Manager Intelligence and Insights, the Senior Intelligence Analyst leads and manages resources responsible for providing intelligence to support regulatory operations and decision-making. You will develop and oversee the delivery of intelligence services and support, aligned to the organisation’s strategic priorities to prevent harm to communities and the environment from pollution and waste.

This is a senior opportunity for an experienced Intelligence Analyst who wants to contribute to a leading regulatory organisation entering a new era of environmental protection. Working closely with the Manager Intelligence and Insights, you will lead and manage a team through change, fostering a positive organisational culture while ensuring the highest standards of performance and integrity. You will also build strong partnerships across government, industry, and community stakeholders to deliver key organisational outcomes.

Key selection criteria

Experience and qualifications

  • A relevant tertiary degree and/or post graduate qualifications is desirable.
  • Senior level experience as an intelligence analyst, preferably in a law enforcement or regulatory environment.
  • Experience leading a team.

Knowledge and skills

  • Demonstrated ability to collect, analyse and interpret qualitative data and information.
  • Strong working knowledge of strategic foresight processes and uses to influence strategic priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to present technical information to a range of stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to apply relevant government legislation, regulations, reporting directives and procedures, to achieve optimal organisational outcomes.
  • A broad understanding of environmental regulation as it relates to pollution and waste is desirable.

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including building a shared sense of direction, clarifying priorities; identifies and responds proactively to strategic issues impacting the operating environment.
  • Ability to implement performance management and development frameworks that manage staff performance, build organisational capability, and support individual development objectives; create and promote and environment that appropriately balances teamwork and individual accountability; provides timely, constructive, and objective feedback.
  • Advanced management skills and demonstrated capability to plan, monitor and deliver multiple concurrent projects / programs, including risk identification and management, budget development and management; optimise the allocation and use of resources; and evaluate project / program effectiveness.
  • A proven record of achievement in a similar role which contributes to organisational excellence, high standards of performance and a positive organisational culture.
  • Demonstrated focus on accountability for the execution and quality of results through professionalism, persistence, and transparency.?
  • Proven ability to work as an effective member of a cohesive team, with a demonstrated commitment to the successful delivery of the highest organisational priorities; proven capability to build and sustain enduring relationships to enable the collaborative delivery of outcomes and achievement of goals and targets.
  • Ability to think outside the square, a willingness to try new things and a genuine desire to learn, share knowledge and make a difference.?
