About the role

As a Global Threat Monitoring Security Specialist, you will support global client operations by monitoring and analysing high-impact security events, delivering timely risk assessments, and providing actionable advice. Working closely with the Global Threat Monitoring Lead Analyst, you will use open source and in-house tools to collect information about global risks, threats and hazards and carry out targeted research to produce high-quality security assessments and advice. You will also support security response activities, client engagements, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance global threat monitoring capabilities.

Key responsibilities

  • Collect, analyse, and interpret security information using all-source research to ensure client-facing advisories are accurate, relevant, and reflective of the current risk environment.
  • Monitor, report, and escalate security issues or events affecting clients in line with established guidance and thresholds.
  • Conduct targeted research on emerging risk issues, including protests, political violence, militancy, war, crime and natural hazards, as well as information to support client responses such as evacuation operations.
  • Collaborate with a wider team to deliver high-quality, audience-centric and multimedia security insights and outputs.
  • As you progress in the role, there will be increasing opportunities to contribute to consulting activities, including delivering client-specific intelligence advisory work.

About you

  • Proven experience in an intelligence or security analyst role or closely related field.
  • Strong knowledge of global security and risk issues.
  • Experience in LATAM and / Africa is desirable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to explain complex situations to non-expert audiences.
  • Ability to critically analyse multiple streams of information under time pressure and produce actionable insights.
  • Hold full working rights in Australia and be based in Sydney.

Qualifications

  • Degree level (or relevant professional training) in a field related to intelligence, security, risk management, international politics or international relations.
  • Experience in security intelligence or a related field, e.g. military, government, NGO, journalism, corporate intelligence.
  • International work experience is desired.

Working Hours

  • Rotating roster, 13 hours shifts, no night shifts
  • A permanent full-time position
  • Office based role located near Wynyard Station, Sydney.
