Biology Researcher (Masters/PhDs) - AI Training

About The Role

What if your years of scientific training in genetics, biotechnology, or bioinformatics could directly shape how AI reasons through the most complex problems in biology? We're looking for Biology Experts with advanced degrees to help build and refine cutting-edge AI models — ensuring they think rigorously, reason accurately, and reflect real scientific depth.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role built for researchers who want to do meaningful, intellectually stimulating work on their own schedule. No prior AI experience needed — just deep domain expertise and a commitment to scientific quality.

  • Organization: Alignerr
  • Type: Hourly Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Develop, solve, and critically review advanced biology problems with real-world scientific relevance
  • Apply your expertise in genetics, biotechnology, bioinformatics, or related fields to design complex, nuanced problem statements
  • Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and fellow domain experts to sharpen AI model reasoning
  • Evaluate AI-generated biological content for scientific accuracy, rigor, and depth
  • Ensure all deliverables meet high standards of clarity, precision, and scientific integrity
  • Work independently on task-based assignments — fully on your own schedule

Who You Are

  • Master's or PhD in Biology or a closely related field (Genetics, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, etc.)
  • Deep expertise in at least one of: genetics, biotechnology, or bioinformatics
  • Comfortable coding in Python or R — whether from research, coursework, or personal projects
  • Exceptionally clear written communicator who can translate complex science into well-structured explanations
  • Detail-oriented and methodical — you hold your work to a high standard
  • Fluent in English

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience with data annotation, data quality assessment, or AI evaluation workflows
  • Background in computational biology, systems biology, or omics research
  • Experience writing scientific content for non-specialist audiences
  • Familiarity with AI tools or large language model applications in science

Why Join Us

  • Work at the frontier of AI development alongside world-leading research labs
  • Fully remote and flexible — work when and where it suits you
  • Freelance autonomy with the structure and purpose of meaningful, task-based work
  • Put your advanced scientific training to work in a high-impact, intellectually engaging role
  • Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
