About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Services Manager to lead the delivery of our Avert Risk & Assure Safety business unit. This is a senior operational leadership role responsible for managing specialist risk and safety services across a diverse range of client environments, including events, venues, security operations, public spaces and other high-risk operational settings.
Reporting to the Head of Operations, you will provide strategic and practical leadership to a team of Risk & Safety Consultants and Safety Officers while maintaining direct involvement in operational safety delivery. The role combines people leadership, client engagement, risk advisory services, safety assurance, incident management and continuous improvement to ensure exceptional safety outcomes for our clients and stakeholders.
This position is ideal for a highly capable safety professional who thrives in dynamic environments, enjoys balancing operational priorities with compliance requirements, and is passionate about building a strong safety culture across complex and fast-paced operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day delivery and performance of the Avert Risk & Assure Safety business unit.
- Provide expert risk and safety advice to clients and operational teams.
- Manage and mentor Risk & Safety Consultants, Safety Officers and other assigned personnel.
- Develop, implement and review safety management plans, risk assessments and operational safety documentation.
- Lead audits, assurance activities, workplace inspections and compliance reviews.
- Manage incident investigations, root cause analysis and corrective action programs.
- Support operational deployments and provide field-based safety leadership when required.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, regulators, operational leaders and key stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across safety, quality, risk and compliance systems.
- Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, standards, regulatory requirements and organisational procedures.
What We're Looking For
You are an experienced safety and risk professional with strong leadership capability and a practical, solutions-focused approach. You can confidently engage with clients and operational teams, influence positive safety outcomes, and make sound decisions in complex and high-pressure environments.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience in WHS, risk management, safety advisory or assurance roles.
- Experience working within operational environments such as events, security, venues, infrastructure or similar industries.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor and coordinate safety personnel across multiple sites.
- Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, risk management frameworks and practical risk control implementation.
- Experience conducting audits, investigations and compliance reviews.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and report-writing skills.
- The ability to balance operational delivery requirements with safety and compliance obligations.
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (minimum requirement).
- Additional qualifications in WHS, Risk Management, Safety Science, Emergency Management or related disciplines will be highly regarded.
