About the role

  • Join the Property Law team and advise on a broad mix of property, planning, construction, infrastructure and commercial legal matters.
  • Report to a Director, with exposure to junior lawyers and key internal stakeholders across the university.
  • Draft, review and negotiate contracts, deeds and agreements, largely relating to property and commercial matters.
  • Advise on leasing, property transactions, development projects, procurement, construction-related matters and planning issues.
  • Support legal risk management across active projects, including identifying practical, commercial and legally appropriate solutions.
  • Assist with legal research, precedent development, template updates and advice on legislative or regulatory changes affecting the university.
  • Contribute to internal legal education, including seminars and workshops for university staff.

The ideal candidate

  • Minimum 7+ years PQE
  • Experience with property transactions, leasing, planning issues, construction contracts, procurement, development projects or infrastructure-related matters will be highly regarded
  • Confident reviewing legal documents, managing competing priorities and giving practical advice
  • Comfortable working with internal stakeholders and supporting matters from start to finish

The ideal candidate will have some in-house experience, but applications from lawyers from private practice or government are also welcome.
