About the Role
This role is responsible for preparing accurate and timely internal and external financial and regulatory reporting for Avant’s Non-Insurance operations. The position requires strong technical accounting capability, including the interpretation and application of Australian Accounting Standards and APRA Reporting Standards, to support robust financial reporting outcomes. The role also develops and maintains effective business partnering relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and contributes to continuous improvement of finance processes and controls.
Key Accountabilities
Financial & Regulatory Reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial and regulatory reporting for non-insurance entities.
- Manage month-end close processes, including journals, reconciliations and financial analysis.
- Ensure accurate and complete reporting in the general ledger.
- Assist with preparation of group financial reporting inputs and Board and Board Audit Committee materials.
- Prepare technical accounting papers and provide technical accounting advice as required.
Financial Controls & Process Improvement
- Assist with monthly and annual financial control activities to ensure effective internal controls.
- Coordinate the development, implementation and monitoring of financial accounting processes and improvements.
- Identify and implement process efficiencies, including automation and system enhancements.
- Document and maintain accounting policies, procedures and internal controls.
Risk, Compliance & Audit
- Perform risk and compliance activities in line with the Enterprise Risk Management Framework.
- Participate in Risk and Control Self-Assessment (ROCSA) reviews and control assurance activities.
- Support external audits, including preparation of work papers and timely resolution of audit queries.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory and statutory requirements.
Collaboration & Projects
- Work closely with cross-functional teams on key initiatives and projects.
- Contribute to strengthening finance capability through knowledge sharing and on-the-job support.
- Build effective business partnering working relationships across the business and with investee entities.
Key Capabilities Required (Qualifications, Experience And Skills)
- Qualified CPA or CA (mandatory).
- Minimum 3+ years’ experience in financial accounting and reporting.
- Experience preparing month-end, statutory accounts, reconciliations and financial analysis.
- Knowledge of APRA regulatory requirements.
- Experience in non-bank lending or complex group environments.
- Exposure to process improvement or finance transformation initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards.
- Strong financial and commercial acumen.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines in a complex reporting environment
