About the Role
Join Avant as a Group Segment Lead and play a pivotal role in shaping how we understand, engage and deliver value to our members. Sitting within the Customer and Strategy division, this is a high-impact leadership role responsible for defining and delivering segment strategies that align to Avant’s broader strategic ambitions.
You will work at the intersection of strategy, marketing, insights and business delivery, translating deep customer understanding into meaningful value propositions, targeted go-to-market plans, and seamless member experiences across the Group. This is a highly visible role requiring strong influence, commercial thinking, and a genuine commitment to putting members at the centre of everything we do.

Key Accountabilities
- Segment Strategy Delivery and Value Proposition Development
- Partner with Group Strategy and Insights to design, develop and evolve Avant’s segment frameworks and operating model
- Translate segment insights into clear strategies, aligned objectives, measurable KPIs and actionable initiatives
- Build compelling, differentiated value propositions aligned to the Avant master brand and member needs
- Lead the development of business cases and track performance through robust segment reporting
- Map lifecycle needs and identify opportunities to enhance engagement and member value
- Drive understanding and adoption of the segment framework across the organisation
- Annual Go-to-Market Strategy, Planning & Execution
- Set and deliver annual segment marketing targets aligned to the business plan
- Develop and oversee integrated segment marketing plans with clear outcomes and success measures
- Define strategic initiatives (Tier 0–2) and partner with Business Units on execution approaches
- Design and optimise end-to-end segment journeys aligned to strategic objectives and KPIs
- Coordinate cross-functional teams (campaigns, digital, content, product marketing) to bring plans to life
- Ensure in-market execution is aligned to segment value propositions and delivers a consistent member experience
- Cross-Group Planning & Alignment to Segment Strategy
- Lead the Group-wide strategic marketing planning process and governance forums
- Engage and influence senior stakeholders, including Segment CEO Sponsors and ExCo
- Facilitate quarterly planning sessions and present performance insights and strategic updates
- Act as a key advocate for the segment approach, embedding it across teams and initiatives
- Drive alignment and coordination across programs to ensure consistency and impact
- Oversee the Early Career Doctors Advisory Council (ECDAC), including engagement, onboarding and governance
- Ensure segment value propositions are consistently reflected across all marketing assets and channels
Key skills and experience required
- Tertiary qualifications in Marketing, Business, Commerce or a related discipline
- Extensive experience in segment-led marketing, customer strategy or strategic marketing roles
- Proven ability to develop and articulate compelling value propositions that drive engagement and growth
- Deep experience in go-to-market strategy, planning and execution across multiple channels
- Strong understanding of customer-centric design, insights-led strategy and journey optimisation
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at senior and executive levels
- Highly developed communication skills, with the ability to simplify and present complex strategies clearly
- Commercial mindset with the ability to translate enterprise strategy into segment-specific plans
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and lead through influence in a cross-functional environment
Preferred Capabilities
- Experience in financial services, professional services or healthcare sectors
- Background in mutual or member-based organisations
- Experience managing member or customer advisory councils
- Exposure to segment performance scorecards and executive-level reporting
- Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills, with an empathetic and engaging leadership style
- Self-driven, curious and adaptable, with a passion for continuous learning in a changing environment
