A unique opportunity has arisen to join a high-growth global healthcare technology business operating across multiple jurisdictions within a complex and evolving regulatory environment.

Reporting directly to the CEO, this role will sit on the executive team, partnering closely with the Board, leadership team and external advisers to support the organisation’s global legal, governance and risk agenda. The position combines enterprise-level legal leadership with meaningful input into strategy, operating at the centre of the organisation’s commercial, governance, innovation and risk decision-making as it continues to scale internationally.

The role provides strategic legal counsel across commercial, corporate, regulatory and technology matters, supporting complex transactions and risk-informed decision-making across multiple jurisdictions. It also carries responsibility for governance and company secretarial matters, alongside oversight of intellectual property, privacy, compliance and broader enterprise risk.

Responsibilities

  • Lead legal input into complex commercial arrangements across global markets, including enterprise customer agreements, strategic partnerships and government or public-sector contracting environments.
  • Advise the CEO and Board on governance, director duties and material risk, including oversight of company secretarial responsibilities.
  • Shape the legal position on regulated healthcare technologies and software-based products, working closely with product, technology and regulatory stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Provide strategic legal guidance on emerging technologies, software products, data governance, product liability and evolving regulatory frameworks.
  • Build and evolve a modern technology-enabled legal function, leveraging automation and emerging legal technologies to enhance legal operations, contract lifecycle management, regulatory monitoring and organisational scalability.
  • Partner with product and technology leaders on intellectual property strategy, software licensing, research collaborations and protection of the organisation’s innovation portfolio.
  • Direct privacy compliance globally across HIPAA, US state privacy regimes, GDPR and the Australian Privacy Act.
  • Build and own the compliance programme, including anti-bribery and corruption, sanctions and export controls, code of conduct and healthcare-specific requirements.
  • Lead the organisation’s approach to disputes, incident response and engagement with external counsel.
  • Support the business’ continued international growth through appropriate structuring and alignment of legal risk.

Requirements

  • Law degree and an Australian Practising Certificate, or eligibility to obtain one.
  • Significant PQE, circa 15+ years, gained within healthcare technology, medical technology, regulated software, SaaS or similarly complex regulated environments, with experience supporting the development and commercialisation of regulated products.
  • Proven experience operating at General Counsel, Chief Legal Officer or equivalent level within a multi-jurisdictional business.
  • Strong track record advising executive teams and Boards on complex commercial, governance and strategic matters.
  • Experience partnering with product, technology and regulatory stakeholders in relation to intellectual property, privacy and emerging technology issues.
  • Exposure to technology-enabled products, digital health, software platforms or other highly regulated innovation-led environments will be highly regarded.
  • Experience across multiple jurisdictions, with exposure to the US market strongly preferred.
  • Commercially astute, pragmatic and able to operate effectively in a scaling environment.
  • Demonstrated company secretarial and Board governance experience will be highly regarded.

This is a rare opportunity to take on a global mandate within a business at the forefront of healthcare innovation, offering broad scope, executive influence and the opportunity to shape the legal, governance and risk framework of a rapidly growing international organisation.

Only candidates who meet the core requirements or demonstrate closely aligned, equivalent experience will be contacted.
