Community Development Project Officer

Troocoo

About The Organisation

Our client is a well-established not-for-profit organisation operating across Queensland and Northern NSW, dedicated to supporting vulnerable members of the community to live well and independently. With a strong community presence and a genuine commitment to improving lives, this organisation offers a collaborative and values-driven environment where your work truly matters.

About The Role

We are seeking a motivated and community-minded Community Development Project Officer to join on a 20-week, part-time contract (0.6 FTE / 3 days per week). This is a predominantly work-from-home role, with occasional travel to the Ocean Shores office for team meetings and community visits across the Tweed Heads, Byron Bay, Kyogle and Ballina local government areas. A car and valid driver's licence are required, with kilometre reimbursement provided. A work laptop and mobile will also be provided.

The core purpose of this role is to research, identify and document community organisations, services and supports that can be linked to vulnerable older people in the region who may be waiting on formal aged care services. You will be working closely with teams and external stakeholders to build out a comprehensive, accurate and publicly accessible service database that feeds into an AI-powered tool.

Your day-to-day duties will include:

  • Conducting desktop research to identify relevant community organisations, services and activities across the region
  • Reaching out directly to community organisations via phone and email to gather information and gain agreement for inclusion in the database
  • Accurately recording service information in a standardised format suitable for use within the database
  • Collaborating with internal teams and their networks to identify additional services and referral pathways
  • Supporting the coordination of approximately 8 community information sessions, including venue sourcing, invitations, catering and presenter coordination
  • Assisting with the promotion and demonstration of the AI tool, primary care providers and community organisations
  • Maintaining consistent communication and progress updates with your remote manager

About You

You are a confident self-starter who thrives working autonomously and is genuinely passionate about community connection and aged care. You enjoy picking up the phone, building rapport quickly and following a thread until you get the information you need. You will ideally bring:

  • Experience in community development, project coordination, stakeholder engagement or a related field
  • Confidence in direct outreach, including cold calling and persistent follow-up with community organisations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage a broad range of stakeholders
  • Sound administration and information management skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage your own time effectively while keeping a remote manager informed
  • Adaptability and a solutions-focused approach when navigating shifting priorities or unforeseen challenges
  • A current driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Familiarity with the Northern NSW region (Tweed, Byron, Ballina, Kyogle) is highly regarded
  • A background in community services, NFP, aged care, local government or healthcare will be well regarded
  • Must hold or be willing to obtain a Blue Card / Working with Children Check

What's in it for You?

  • Competitive hourly rate of $53 per hour
  • Predominantly work-from-home with genuine flexibility across your three days
  • Equipment provided including laptop and mobile phone
  • Kilometre reimbursement for any required travel
  • A meaningful role contributing to improved outcomes for older people in regional and coastal NSW communities
  • Supportive senior team with clear direction and regular check-ins
