Valont is an integrated professional services business for Australian SMEs, organised around four hubs — Finance, People, Operations and Growth. We are AI-enabled and human-delivered: technology carries the repetitive, standardised work; our accountants carry the judgement, the advice and the client relationship.
The Finance Hub is our largest service line. We are moving accounting away from the legacy, labour-heavy, billable-hours model toward a productised, advisory-led service where accountants spend their time where it counts.
The role
This is a hands-on accounting role for someone excellent at the profession who wants their week spent helping SME clients reach their potential, advising owners and delivering solutions; rather than being buried in day-to-day operations. At Valont, the routine processing runs on our AI engine, so your time concentrates on interpretation, advice and the client relationship, and your portfolio grows through Valont's referral and cross-sell engine rather than cold business development.
Key responsibilities
- Serve as the day-to-day accountant and advisor for a portfolio of SME clients — understanding each business, its numbers and its goals.
- Deliver Finance Hub services: management accounting, BAS/IAS and tax compliance, cashflow forecasting and reporting, and accounts receivable / credit control.
- Review and act on the exceptions, insights and compliance flags surfaced by Valont's AI engine, validating outputs in regulated areas before they reach the client.
- Provide clear, practical advice that helps owners make better decisions.
- Grow your portfolio through Valont referrals and cross-sell into the People, Operations and Growth hubs.
- Work to standardised, high-quality workflows that let us serve more clients without the linear grind.
- Build genuine, long-term client relationships that drive retention.
Skills & experience
- CA / CPA qualified (or equivalent), with post-qualification experience in a mid-tier (or comparable) firm.
- Strong technical grounding across tax compliance, management accounting and advisory; comfortable interpreting numbers and talking directly with owners.
- A genuine appetite for client-facing advisory work — you want more of it, not less.
- Comfortable with modern technology and AI tools, and energised — not threatened — by a model that automates the routine.
- Commercially minded; keen to grow a portfolio of clients.
- Strong communicator who builds trust quickly.
