About the role

Brisbane Private Hospital is looking to employ Food Services Assistants to join our friendly and supportive team. You will take pride in your work, have a friendly and positive work attitude and an interest to achieve high standards of customer satisfaction.

Set at the top of Wickham Terrace, Brisbane’s busiest medical precinct, above the Roma Street Parklands in the heart of the CBD, Brisbane Private Hospital is an acute and rehabilitation hospital with 181 beds, 17 operating theatres and dedicated surgical, ICU and rehabilitation wards. Brisbane Private Hospital specialises in Neurosurgery, Orthopaedics, Spinal, ENT, Pain and Rehabilitation with additional specialties including Plastics, Urology, General Surgery, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Brisbane Private Hospital also delivers a leading private drug and alcohol program, Damascus Health Services, from its dedicated drug and alcohol rehabilitation unit.

As a Food Services Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing exception customer/patient service by preparing and serving food
  • Convey and prepare special dietary requirements for the patients
  • Deliver excellent customer service to patients, clients and staff
  • Demonstrate sound time management, ability to prioritise and deliver delegated tasks in a timely manner
  • To be up to date with training and have a sound ability to keep the kitchen up to code with cleaning

Essential Criteria

  • At least 1-year experience in a hospitality environment
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Good communication and time management skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Works well independently and within a team

Desirable Criteria

  • Certificate III in Safe Food Handling
  • Certificate II Health Support Services
  • Certificate III in Health Services Assistance
  • Previous experience as a cook or chef in a hospitality setting
  • Previous experience in an age care or hospital setting
