Are you an experienced Tax Lawyer or Tax Consultant looking for meaningful work, genuine autonomy and the ability to build your week around home-based work?

Smailes Krawitz is a leading boutique firm specialising in tax, estate and commercial law, and we are expanding our high performing team.

We are particularly interested in candidates with 3+ years’ experience, ideally gained in a law firm environment. We also welcome those coming from a Big 4 firm, accounting/tax consulting, corporate tax roles, or the Australian Taxation Office. If you have experience in state taxes, we would love to hear from you too.

• WFH-first / hybrid flexibility (Perth based)
• Work with blue chip clients
• Optional new CBD office: 108 St Georges Terrace, Perth
• Full time or part time available

What you will be doing

• Advising on complex direct & indirect federal tax and state tax matters, including both advisory and transactional work
• Assisting with ATO and RevenueWA engagement — requests for information, audits & disputes
• Acting in taxation objections, reviews and appeals
• Providing advice and drafting documents in relation to trusts, wills & estates
• Supporting family offices with tax, succession & estate planning
• Advising on commercial, family & charitable structures
• Corporate, family and NFP restructures
• Preparing commercial documents

We welcome candidates who bring the following skills:

• At least 3 years’ experience in tax law
• Admitted to practice law in Western Australia or the ability to obtain admission promptly
• Ideally coming from a background in a law firm environment, however a background from the Big 4, accounting/tax consulting, corporate tax, or the ATO would also be valuable
• Strong communication, attention to detail and technical advisory skills
• Ability to manage files autonomously while contributing to a collaborative team
• Excellent drafting skills and commercial acumen
• A desire to achieve high quality results for our clients
