General Manager

Briscoe Search & Consulting

  • A senior leadership role in a respected member-based organisation
  • Strong focus on service, people, finance and hospitality
  • Lead through governance change, operational improvement and renewed commercial focus

Our client is a substantial Perth-based member organisation with significant assets, a strong market position, and a diverse operating model spanning hospitality, events, facilities, customer service and member engagement. It is a service-led organisation, but one that increasingly requires clear commercial leadership, disciplined execution and confident stewardship of its people, assets and reputation. We have been engaged to appoint an outstanding General Manager to lead its next chapter.

Reporting to a Board, the General Manager will take responsibility for the leadership, performance and day-to-day management of the organisation’s operations, people, finances, compliance, member service and internal systems. The successful candidate will bring calm authority, sound judgement, superb people management skills, and the ability to lead through change with maturity and respect.

Key priorities will include:

  • Running a circa $10m member-based business with commercial discipline and care
  • Leading and empowering a broad team across administration, finance, hospitality, facilities, operations and member services
  • Strengthening systems, reporting, compliance, decision-making and accountability
  • Improving service standards, member engagement and operational consistency
  • Managing competing priorities, stakeholder expectations and committee relationships with diplomacy and confidence
  • Building a more professional, sustainable and empowered operating model

We are open to different backgrounds, but you must have carried genuine General Manager responsibility. Your experience may come from a member-based club, hospitality, sport, leisure, community, private enterprise, venue management, facilities, or another customer-facing commercial environment.

More important will be your temperament. This role requires a leader who is calm under pressure, commercially firm without being combative, and able to make people feel heard while still holding a clear line. You will need to bring structure, confidence and discipline to the organisation, while understanding that a successful club is not run like a purely corporate business.

This represents a rare opportunity to lead a respected Perth club at a pivotal moment in its development. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape a more professional, empowered and sustainable operating model while working closely with an engaged Board, staff team and membership community.
