Biochemist – AI Data Trainer

About The Role

Your deep expertise in biochemistry is exactly what the next generation of AI needs. At Alignerr, we partner with the world's leading AI research labs to build smarter, more scientifically rigorous AI models — and we need PhD-level biochemists to help us get there.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role where your knowledge of protein folding, enzyme kinetics, metabolic flux, and molecular genetics directly shapes how AI reasons about life science. No prior AI experience required — just deep domain expertise and sharp analytical thinking.

  • Organization: Alignerr
  • Type: Hourly Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Design Expert-Level Problems — Create sophisticated biochemistry challenges across domains like nucleic acid chemistry, proteomics, structural biology, and drug-target interactions to stress-test AI reasoning.
  • Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Write rigorous, step-by-step technical solutions that serve as benchmarks for high-level scientific reasoning in AI systems.
  • Audit AI Outputs — Evaluate AI-generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and mathematical proofs for accuracy, safety, and adherence to scientific standards.
  • Refine AI Reasoning — Identify and correct logical errors in AI responses — such as incorrect stoichiometry, flawed stereochemistry, or misapplied biochemical principles — and provide structured feedback to improve model performance.

Who You Are

  • PhD completed or in final stages in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field
  • Strong foundational knowledge in one or more of: structural biology, enzymology, cellular metabolism, proteomics, or bioinformatics
  • Able to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and precisely in written form
  • Highly detail-oriented when working with chemical equations, molecular diagrams, and experimental protocols
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently and asynchronously
  • No prior AI experience required

Nice to Have

  • Experience with data annotation, quality evaluation, or scientific peer review
  • Familiarity with computational tools such as PyMOL, AlphaFold, or BLAST
  • Background in scientific writing or technical editing

Why Join Us

  • Work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside top research labs and scientists
  • Fully remote and flexible — work on your own schedule, from anywhere
  • Freelance autonomy with meaningful, intellectually stimulating work
  • Contribute to AI systems that will impact scientific research globally
  • Potential for ongoing work and contract extension
