Role Description
The Solution Architect will define the end-to-end solution architecture for the emergency backstop capability, ensuring alignment across IT, OT, and operational systems. The role bridges business requirements with technical design and establishes the architectural direction to guide subsequent design and delivery phases. The Solution Architect will work closely with business and technical stakeholders to develop architecture options, guide solution selection, and support procurement activities. The role will also provide continuity into future phases by ensuring the selected solution can be effectively translated into detailed design and implementation. The role requires an experienced practitioner who can operate effectively in a complex program environment with minimal direction, proactively drive architectural outcomes, and provide clear, authoritative guidance to support decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Define solution architecture aligned to business requirements.
- Establish architectural principles, constraints, guardrails, and non-functional requirements to guide vendor solutions.
- Define the integration approach across IT, OT, and operational environments.
- Lead the development of key architecture artefacts aligned with internal Design.
- Authority standards and approval processes.
- Contribute to the internal support model, including system ownership and support boundaries.
- Provide inputs into procurement documentation, including requirements to support market evaluation and scoring.
- Support the procurement process, participate in vendor briefings, respond to vendor queries and evaluate vendor solution architectures against requirements.
- Ensure the selected solution architecture is fit-for-purpose and can be progressed into detailed design and delivery.
- Provide inputs to support business case refinement and decision-making.
Required Skills And Experience
- Strong experience in critical infrastructure, energy, or real-time operational environments.
- Proven IT/OT integration capability across control and enterprise systems.
- Understanding of cybersecurity, resilience, and high-availability requirements.
- Experience developing architecture artefacts for complex solutions.
- Ability to support procurement, including technical evaluation and vendor engagement.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and ability to communicate technical concepts clearly.
