Hours per week: 19, Ideally spread across 3 to 4 days per week.

Remuneration: Band 6 salary from $ 104,133.36 per annum (pro-rata) plus superannuation

Location: Werribee based with potential for a hybrid work arrangement

About the role

The Councillor Communications Advisor supports the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Councillors with clear, engaging and timely communications across a range of channels, with a strong focus on digital and social media.

This role is responsible for preparing content including social media posts, speeches, media releases, newsletters and briefing materials. The position works closely with Councillors and internal teams to identify proactive communication opportunities and support community engagement activities.

This is a fast-paced role that requires strong communication skills, political awareness, discretion and the ability to manage competing priorities.

What your day will look like

  • Writing social media content, speeches and media releases
  • Managing the Mayor’s social media channels
  • Supporting Councillors with communication activities
  • Attending community events and capturing digital content
  • Working with internal teams to promote Council initiatives

What you will bring

  • Qualifications in communications, PR, marketing, journalism or similar
  • Experience creating engaging written and digital content
  • Strong social media and communication skills
  • Experience working with senior stakeholders or elected representatives
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Political awareness and sound judgement
  • Current driver’s licence
