The Opportunity

An excellent opportunity for a technically capable Financial Accountant seeking a 12-month contract within a well-structured and highly regulated organisation. This role will provide strong exposure to statutory reporting, group compliance requirements, and government funding frameworks, while working alongside an experienced and collaborative finance function.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Manager Financial Accounting, you’ll be responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, supporting audit requirements, and maintaining the integrity of financial information across the broader group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare annual statutory financial statements in line with accounting standards and regulatory obligations
  • Assist with the annual group audit process, including sample testing, audit documentation, and liaison with external auditors
  • Prepare technical accounting position papers as required
  • Complete regulatory reporting, including Aged Care Financial Reports (ACFR) and Quarterly Financial Reports (QFR)
  • Manage financial acquittals relating to government funding, grants, and fundraising activities
  • Support month-end processes, including journal preparation and posting
  • Reconcile intercompany loan accounts across the group structure
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and maintain the accuracy of financial records
  • Contribute to ongoing improvements to finance policies, procedures, and controls

About You

  • CA/CPA qualified or nearing completion, with a degree in Accounting, Commerce, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Financial Accountant or similar role
  • Strong experience preparing statutory financial statements and supporting external audits
  • Solid technical accounting knowledge with the ability to interpret and apply standards
  • High attention to detail with strong time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Advanced Excel capability and strong systems exposure
  • Exposure to government funding, compliance reporting, or acquittals will be highly regarded
