Biochemist – AI Data Trainer
About The Role
What if your deep expertise in biochemistry could help shape the next generation of AI? At Alignerr, we partner with the world's leading AI research labs to build smarter, more scientifically rigorous models — and we need PhD-level biochemists to make it happen.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role where your knowledge of protein folding, metabolic flux, enzyme kinetics, and molecular genetics directly influences how advanced AI systems reason about life science. No AI background required — just deep scientific expertise and a sharp analytical mind.
- Organization: Alignerr
- Type: Hourly Contract
- Location: Remote
- Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
- Design Expert-Level Problems — Create challenging biochemistry problems across domains like nucleic acid chemistry, proteomics, structural biology, and drug-target interactions to probe and stress-test AI reasoning.
- Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Write rigorous, step-by-step technical solutions that serve as benchmarks for high-level scientific reasoning in AI systems.
- Audit AI Outputs — Review AI-generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and mathematical proofs for technical accuracy, scientific validity, and safety.
- Refine AI Reasoning — Identify logical errors — such as incorrect stoichiometry, flawed stereochemistry, or misapplied kinetic models — and deliver structured feedback to improve how models think through complex life science problems.
Who You Are
- Advanced Degree: PhD (completed or in final stages) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related discipline.
- Deep Domain Knowledge: Strong foundational expertise in one or more of the following — structural biology, enzymology, cellular metabolism, molecular genetics, or bioinformatics.
- Clear Scientific Communicator: Able to explain complex biological and chemical concepts with precision and clarity in written form.
- Detail-Oriented: Highly accurate when evaluating chemical equations, molecular diagrams, reaction mechanisms, and experimental protocols.
- No prior AI experience required.
Nice to Have
- Experience with data annotation, data quality assessment, or evaluation workflows.
- Familiarity with computational biochemistry tools such as PyMOL, AlphaFold, or BLAST.
- Background in scientific writing, peer review, or technical editing.
