POSITION OVERVIEW

The Site Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day delivery of site operations on a specific project, ensuring works are executed safely, efficiently, and in line with programme, budget, and quality objectives. This role coordinates labour, subcontractors, plant, and logistics to drive productivity, maintain site standards, and support successful project outcomes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Site Setup & Close-Out: Establish site infrastructure, amenities, and logistics for project commencement, and coordinate site demobilisation and close-out
  • Site Operations & Logistics: Manage day-to-day operations while overseeing deliveries, cranage, traffic, and material handling to maintain an efficient, organised site
  • Workforce & Subcontractor Coordination: Coordinate labour and subcontractors, ensuring all personnel are inducted, compliant, and performing to programme requirements
  • Safety & Compliance: Promote a safety-first culture, ensuring compliance with SWMS, permits, and regulations while conducting inspections and managing risks
  • Industrial Relations: Manage day-to-day IR matters, mitigate risks, engage with unions, and resolve issues to maintain productivity and alignment
  • Programme & Productivity: Support delivery in line with the programme, identifying and resolving delays while driving productivity through effective planning
  • Commercial & Resource Management: Manage site costs, monitor resource utilisation, and support procurement to drive cost efficiency
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise with internal teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and authorities to ensure clear communication and alignment
  • Quality & Documentation: Ensure works meet drawings and standards while maintaining accurate site records, inspections, and reporting
  • Risk & Issue Management: Identify and manage site risks and operational issues, implementing practical solutions to maintain progress

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE ROLE

  • Minimum 5+ years' experience in a Senior Site Manager or Site Operations Manager role within commercial construction, on large-scale or complex projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction methodology, build sequencing, and ability to interpret drawings and specifications.
  • Proven experience managing works in live or critical environments, maintaining safety, operational integrity, and minimal disruption.
  • Demonstrated capability coordinating mechanical, electrical, and specialist trades to ensure seamless integration of services.
  • Experience managing high-volume site logistics, including cranage, prefabricated installs, and constrained site conditions.
  • Solid knowledge of WHS, SWMS, compliance frameworks, and industrial relations within a site environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage subcontractors, drive performance, and maintain site culture.
  • Ability to work to programme, manage competing priorities, and deliver outcomes to tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
