Youth Program & Development Officer
- Band 6 – Salary Range $99,638 - $108,597 plus 12% Super
- Part Time (0.8 EFT), Permanent Role
- Located at Bubup Nairm Family Services & other locations throughout the municipality - flexible working arrangements possible.
About The Organisation
The City of Port Phillip is an inner-city council with around 1000 employees who deliver more than 100 programs and services to our residents, businesses and visitors. These range from childcare and immunisations, to libraries, management of parks and open space, rubbish collection, road maintenance and more. About The Role
Make a real difference in the lives of young people in your community.
In this role, you will design and deliver engaging programs that support young people to connect, build skills and improve their wellbeing. You will have the chance to be creative, try new ideas and shape programs based on what young people want and need.
You will build strong relationships with local schools, community organisations and services, helping to create more opportunities for young people across Port Phillip. This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same. You might be running a program, meeting with partners, or working with young people to bring a new idea to life.
Working closely with the Team Leader Youth Services, you will be part of a supportive and passionate team that values collaboration, fresh thinking and continuous improvement. You will also use feedback and data to strengthen programs and make sure they stay relevant and impactful.
Duties
- Lead best practice youth and community engagement on behalf of Council
- Apply safe, family and youth-friendly approaches to understand community needs, trends and engagement opportunities
- Design and deliver programs based on local community needs
- Monitor and evaluate programs to improve services and respond to emerging trends
- Build strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve best outcomes
Skills And Experience
- Demonstrate specialist knowledge of youth work, including engagement, program design, facilitation and data-informed practice
- Able to utilise YACVic Code of Ethical Practice and other key relevant sector frameworks to guide work and ensure best-practice approach
- Show strong insight into youth wellbeing issues and able to apply strengths-based, evidence-informed approaches
- Can use program evaluation and data analysis to improve service quality and outcomes
- Strong digital skills, including Microsoft Office suite, social media and new systems
- Provide specialist advice and able to build partnerships that strengthen collaboration, reach and impact
