Frontend Transformation Lead | Sydney | Hybrid (3 days in office)

We're partnering with a leading Australian digital business undertaking one of the most significant technology transformations in its history.

After operating on a legacy platform for over a decade, the business has invested heavily in a modern storefront architecture built on React, Next.js, Vercel and AI-assisted software delivery. The foundations have been laid, and they're now looking for a Frontend Transformation Lead to help drive the next phase of the journey.

This is not a traditional Tech Lead role.

You'll sit at the intersection of architecture, engineering leadership, product and delivery, helping guide multiple squads through a large-scale storefront modernisation while shaping how modern software is built within the organisation.

The Opportunity

You'll become the technical leader for a newly established customer-facing digital platform that will ultimately become the foundation for future product development across the organisation.

Working closely with Engineering Managers, Product Managers, Architects and senior business stakeholders, you'll help define the future direction of the platform, establish engineering standards, and support teams as they migrate from legacy technologies into a modern React and Next.js ecosystem.

You'll influence how software is delivered, how teams collaborate, and how AI-assisted development practices are adopted at scale.

What You'll Be Doing

• Leading the technical direction of a modern storefront platform built with React, Next.js and Vercel
• Partnering with Product, Engineering and Architecture teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
• Supporting multiple engineering squads through a large-scale platform transformation
• Driving frontend architecture, engineering standards and best practices
• Guiding solution design and technical decision-making across customer-facing experiences
• Supporting adoption of AI-assisted development practices and modern engineering workflows
• Mentoring engineers and technical leads across multiple teams
• Working closely with stakeholders across product, technology and the wider business
• Helping shape the long-term roadmap for the storefront platform

What We're Looking For

We're interested in people who have led significant platform, frontend or digital transformations and can balance technical depth with strong stakeholder engagement.

You'll likely bring

• Strong experience with React and modern frontend architecture
• Experience working with Next.js or similar modern frontend frameworks
• A background in technical leadership, platform engineering or solution architecture
• Experience leading large-scale migrations, modernisation programs or greenfield platform initiatives
• Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience influencing engineers across multiple teams or squads
• A passion for improving engineering practices, delivery processes and developer experience
• Exposure to modern AI-assisted software development tools and workflows
