Senior Estimator

Our client is a respected National Commercial Construction company delivering a diverse mix of industrial and commercial new build, heavy refurbishment and fitout projects across Australia. Known for their hands on approach, quality delivery and strong client relationships, they are now looking for a high calibre Senior Estimator to join their growing Victorian team.

About the Role

This is a senior position at the heart of the business, responsible for leading the full estimating lifecycle across a diverse portfolio of commercial and industrial construction projects. You will be comfortable working in D&C and partially documented environments, pricing from concept through to detailed submission, and identifying scope gaps and risk before they become problems.

This is also a genuine career defining opportunity. The business has a clear pathway for the right person to step into a leadership role, taking ownership of the Victorian estimating function and building and mentoring a team of estimators, juniors and cadets as the pipeline grows.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end tender management across multiple concurrent bids
• Price projects from approximately 40% design documentation through to full D&C submissions
• Proactively identify scope gaps, design risks and incomplete documentation
• Prepare and finalise accurate cost plans, bills of quantities and project pricing
• Manage subcontractor and supplier engagement; packages, site visits, negotiations and quote assessment
• Review and sign off on tenders prepared by junior estimators under your supervision
• Prepare margin summaries and ensure pricing aligns with agreed parameters
• Prepare handover documentation for the Project Delivery team on successful bids
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers
• Contribute to the development of pricing libraries, estimating processes and team capability
• Report on opportunity status and maintain CRM and forecasting tools on a live basis

About You

• 8 - 12+ years' estimating experience in commercial construction
• Strong D&C estimating capability, including pricing from early/partial design
• Proven experience across industrial and commercial new build (key focus), heavy refurbishment and large-scale fitout
• Exposure to projects ranging from $1M through to $15M+
• Demonstrated ability to identify scope gaps, incomplete design and commercial risk
• Experience leading tenders end-to-end with minimal supervision
• Experience mentoring or supervising junior estimating staff
• Commercially minded and solutions-focused with strong attention to detail
• Proficient with estimating software and Microsoft Project (or equivalent)
• Excellent communicator with established subcontractor and supplier networks
• Australian commercial construction experience essential
