About The Role

This is a Perth-based, part-time role (2-3 days a week with some peaks in workload at times) for a 12-months’ rolling contract.

As the Senior Environmental Advisor, you will lead the development of a draft offshore carbon storage permit application under the Environment Protection (Sea Dumping) Act 1981, using available regulatory guidance ahead of final requirements. Collaborate closely with project, subsurface, and environmental approvals teams to ensure alignment across approval processes, delivering a high-quality application ready for efficient progression once guidance is finalised.

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties safely, efficiently, and in line with company policies.
  • Uphold strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental protection.
  • Lead and author the CO? sequestration sea dumping permit application, ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate technical inputs and engage stakeholders to support the permit application.
  • Develop and manage the permit workplan and schedule to ensure timely delivery.
  • Work with internal approvals teams to ensure alignment across regulatory submissions.
  • Support stakeholder engagement activities to facilitate project approvals.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science / Environmental Engineering / Marine Science, Geoscience / or any related field.
  • Postgraduate qualification (e.g., Graduate Diploma or Master’s) in environmental management or law (preferred)
  • Proven experience preparing and obtaining sea dumping permits under the Environment Protection (Sea Dumping) Act 1981.
  • Strong knowledge of carbon sequestration regulations, including the London Protocol and DCCEEW guidance.
  • Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary inputs across engineering, subsurface, and environmental teams.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with ability to deliver high-quality outputs to tight deadlines.
