We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Estimator to join our team and play a pivotal role in building new pipelines of work and contributing to the growth of the business.

The Construction Estimator at Royal Contractors is a key position that oversees all aspects of the biding and tender process. The role requires the accurate estimating of tenders and the accurate cost planning for projects. The role will require a fluent and in-depth understanding of the construction industry, building codes and market prices. You will be working closely with internal stakeholders, suppliers and contractors and will be reporting directly the Director of the business.

Primary Responsibilities

Reviewing tender documentation, analysing architectural drawings, engineering plans, and specifications in order to quantify materials and resources.

Preparing detailed cost estimates, analysing contractor quotations, and packaging tender submissions for new projects.

Consulting with various internal teams to understand the construction methodology and program of a project and its implications to financial feasibility.

supporting contract administration functions, including subcontractor procurement, scope clarifications, RFIs, variation pricing, progress claim support, project cost reporting, and liaison with clients, consultants and subcontractors

Engaging with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors and continuously improving the contractor pool with new contractors from your experiences.

Interpreting contract documentation, plans, building processes and procedures, relevant legislation, standards, and codes.

Presenting tender proposals to company directors and all relevant stakeholders.

Responsible for the overall tender submission process, from quantity take-offs and project costing through to analysis of tender documentation and preparation of documentation package.

About You

You will be a dynamic and enthusiastic person, who will always take initiative in the bidding and tendering process.

You have at least 5 years’ experience in the Construction Industry – in a similar role

Experience working and communicating with suppliers and contractors and having deep knowledge of the market.

Experience in education and government sector and/or infrastructure projects – highly regarded

Experience with low-to-midrise unit construction, class 2 and 3 will be highly regarded.

Proficient in the use of estimation software and experience in dissecting and analysing construction plans.

You are self-motivated, well presented, with attention to detail, with ability to deliver and present structured proposals with proficiency and confidence.

Qualifications required

Degree or Diploma qualified in Construction Management, Quantity surveying or similar field

Fluent in English with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Experience with Cubit and Procore or other estimation software

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Ambition to commit long term to the business
