Opportunity
We’re looking for a Learning Design Partner to join the Talent and Capability team, providing strategic leadership for enterprise learning design. This is an exciting opportunity for a senior learning professional who excels at translating complex capability needs into evidence-based, measurable learning solutions that make a genuine difference to organisational performance.
Leading learning needs analysis, governing design quality and methodology, and partnering with business leaders and subject matter experts, you will ensure all learning solutions are fit for purpose, accessible and designed to demonstrate impact. This role involves national travel to support learning activities, events and stakeholder engagement across various locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver the enterprise Learning & Development strategy aligned to organisational priorities and workforce capability needs.
- Lead the evolution of a scalable learning ecosystem that drives capability, performance and workforce readiness.
- Partner with senior leaders to identify emerging capability requirements and design targeted learning solutions.
- Use workforce insights, analytics and evaluation data to guide investment decisions and measure impact.
- Provide strategic advice on learning, capability and workforce development to senior stakeholders.
- Champion contemporary learning practices, digital learning and continuous improvement.
- Lead and develop a high-performing team of L&D specialists.
- Ensure learning governance, compliance obligations and systems effectively support organisational outcomes.
About You
Your instructional design expertise, leadership capability and commitment to evidence-based practice will set you up for success in this role.
You will bring:
- Demonstrated experience leading learning design in a complex organisation, including strategic needs analysis, solution design and evaluation.
- Advanced expertise in instructional design and adult learning principles, with the ability to translate complex capability needs into engaging, measurable learning experiences.
- Proven ability to embed evaluation by design, including application of frameworks such as Kirkpatrick to define success criteria and measure learning impact.
- Experience governing design quality across a team, including developing standards, templates and frameworks that support consistent, high-quality output.
- Strong advisory and influencing skills, with the ability to partner effectively with senior leaders and subject matter experts.
- People leadership experience, including coaching and developing instructional designers or learning practitioners.
- Proficiency in digital learning tools and authoring platforms, with an understanding of LMS governance and content configuration.
- Understanding of accessibility standards, universal design principles and inclusive learning practice.
- Experience in a government, transport, aviation or safety-critical organisation will be highly regarded.
