Role Overview

The Marine Maintenance and Construction Team Member supports the maintenance, fabrication and minor capital works associated with Flinders Ports infrastructure including wharfs, marine structures, buildings and general port assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform welding, fabrication, maintenance, and repair work on new and existing marine assets, including steel and timber structures, jetties, wharves, and associated infrastructure, both in workshop environments and on-site;
  • Operate equipment such as cranes, forklifts, winches, and mechanical tools, including handling heavy construction plant and vessels;
  • Install and maintain port infrastructure, formwork, painting, mooring systems, temporary work platforms;
  • Work collaboratively with team members, report hazards or concerns to the Team Leader, and ensure smooth daily operations; and
  • Work independently or in a team, follow complex instructions, apply quality control techniques, and provide support to colleagues.

About You

Your skills and experience will include -

  • Trade qualifications as a boilermaker and metal fabrication is desirable, industry experience in this field will also be considered.;
  • Previous experience in a marine environment desirable but not essential;
  • Experience carrying out various maintenance activities and in the use of general plant and equipment;
  • Experience working in construction, fabrication or maintenance;
  • Knowledge of WH&S practices that apply to general labouring work and ability to conduct and interpret JSEAs; and
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work with limited supervision.
