About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst to support the delivery of digital solutions that improve business processes and enhance organisational outcomes within a large Queensland Government environment.

This role will work closely with business stakeholders, project teams, and technical specialists to analyse business needs, define requirements, and support the implementation of systems that improve operational efficiency and service delivery. You will play a key role in bridging the gap between business and technology, ensuring solutions are aligned with strategic objectives and end-user requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate stakeholder workshops and consultation sessions to gather, analyse, and document business requirements.
  • Elicit, document, and validate business, functional, and non-functional requirements.
  • Analyse and map current-state and future-state business processes, workflows, and user journeys.
  • Develop user stories, process maps, business requirements documents, and supporting project artefacts.
  • Collaborate with project managers, technical teams, and business stakeholders to ensure solutions meet organisational objectives.
  • Support the development and implementation of digital solutions that improve productivity and business outcomes.
  • Participate in project planning activities and provide business analysis expertise to support informed decision-making.
  • Contribute to user acceptance testing (UAT), business readiness activities, and solution validation.
  • Assist in the development of training materials, process documentation, and operational handover artefacts.
  • Establish and support transition activities to ensure successful adoption and handover into business-as-usual operations.

Highly Desirable Criteria

  • Demonstrated experience as a Business Analyst within complex ICT, digital transformation, or business improvement projects.
  • Strong experience facilitating workshops and engaging with diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Proven ability to document current-state and future-state business processes and requirements.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to solve complex business challenges.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience working across cross-functional teams and managing competing priorities.
  • Experience applying project delivery methodologies such as Agile, SAFe, or PRINCE2.
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building capabilities.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience working within Queensland Government or other public sector environments.
  • Formal Business Analysis qualifications such as CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) or PMI-PBA (Professional in Business Analysis).
  • Experience supporting system implementation, business process transformation, or digital modernisation initiatives.
  • Understanding of organisational change management and business readiness activities.
  • Experience contributing to testing activities, including User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Awareness of culturally inclusive engagement practices and working within diverse stakeholder environments.
