Reporting to the Electrical Principal, you will provide Asset Management solutions to improve asset up-time and at the same time reduce maintenance costs at Hidden Valley Mine in Papua New Guinea. To ensure the safety and well-being of all employees and contractors by compliance with the company's Health and Safety systems, policies and procedures. Ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective asset uptime through the implementation of best-practice maintenance and reliability strategies, while ensuring full compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. Deliver operations within approved budgets and lifecycle cost targets,and build sustainable national capability by developing and mentoring the local workforce to meet current and future operational demands.
This role will be offered as an expatriate FIFO opportunity from/to Australia working on a 16/12-day roster.
Responsibilities
As an Electrical & Instrumentation Superintendent, your key responsibilities include:
- Ensure compliance to relevant statutory requirements.
- Ensure that electrical, instrumentation, power house and control maintenance employees and contractors are provided with a safe work environment.
- Ensure that electrical, instrumentation, power house and control maintenance employees and contractors are trained and found competent in all aspects of the work requirements including health, safety and environmental related requirements.
- Provide a coaching and mentoring role to the electrical, instrumentation and control maintenance employees.
- Ensure that all job instructions, JSEAs, SWIs are in place, reviewed and updated regularly.
- Provide fit for purpose tools, equipment and infrastructure to enable maintenance and project tasks to be performed safely and effectively.
- Compliance to environmental standards and environmental regulatory requirements are maintained.
- Ensure that assets are fit for duty and capable of achieving the availability, reliability and production targets through management of maintenance activities.
- Ensuring that the Preventive and Predictive Maintenance Programs are fully functional to achieve optimal life cycle costs.
- Analyse and reassess equipment maintenance requirements and frequencies and make recommendations to the maintenance planning department when changes are deemed necessary.
- Assisting in developing and working to short- and long-term maintenance plans.
- Actively supporting site and department improvement initiatives evidenced by department achieving improvement targets and 100% completion of agreed improvement projects in own area of responsibility.
- Assuring that engineering, maintenance and operational solutions are being implemented through the Work Management & Loss Elimination processes.
- Preparing fixed plant expenditure forecasts and budgets on a monthly basis.
- Monitoring expenditure against the budget and investigating variances.
- Proposing and achieving efficiency and waste reduction targets.
- Compliance with the annual expense and capital budgets.
- Liaise with technical, processing and maintenance personnel to ensure that asset downtime is eliminated and assets are utilised optimally.

Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you must be a highly experienced professional who is self-motivated and able to work efficiently and collaboratively in a team environment holding the following qualifications and experience:
- (Essential) Electrical Trade coupled with current electrical license.
- Advanced Diploma of Electrical Engineering.
- (Desirable) Bachelor of Engineering
- Strong technical leadership and people management skills, with the ability to mentor and develop team members.
- (Essential) Minimum 5 years’ Superintendent experience in mining environment.
- (Essential) A class Driver's license
- Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills at all organizational levels.
- Commitment to safety excellence and compliance with industry standards.
- Fully understand and apply the PNG Mining Act with respect to maintenance functions.
- Prior work experience in Papua New Guinea will be highly regarded.
- Communication and cultural awareness are key, strong interpersonal and relationship building skills are a must as well as an appreciation for operating within a developing country.
