Mid-Western Regional Council is seeking a passionate and proactive Destination Services Coordinator to amplifying visitor experiences when they are in region, while also servicing locals who will act as hosts to visiting friends and relatives. Primarily this is done at the Visitor Centre, however, will work closely with local businesses to provide concierge services across the region.

About the Role

Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, the Destination Services Coordiator is responsible for ensuring visitors are informed of the experiences and products available to them, while showcasing authentic hospitality in the retail store. As a result, visitors will have an experience they will remember and want talk about. In addition, this role is responsible for encouraging visitor sign up to databases and platforms, while also collecting data to guide future destination marketing efforts.

About You

You are a relationship-focused professional with a passion for tourism, stakeholder engagement and regional development.

You will bring

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a customer-facing environment – specifically tourism, hospitality or retail

  • Proven leadership experience in managing a team of 3 or more staff

  • Well-developed interpersonal and stakeholder relationship management skills

  • Demonstrate commercial acumen with experience working to a budget

  • Demonstrated experience with product orders, sales and control

  • Experience managing data collection and incentives

  • Experience in social media marketing & e-newsletter production

  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills

  • Highly developed organisational and time management skills, and ability to meet deadlines

  • Knowledge of the local area and its tourism offerings, or ability to quickly acquire

  • Proficiency with MS Office programs

  • Class C Driver’s Licence

  • National Criminal Police Check

This role requires a satisfactory National Police History Criminal Check prior to commencing.

Working Arrangements

This position works standard business hours of 9:00am to 5:00pm. Occasional work outside normal business hours will be required, including early mornings, evenings and nights to support industry events, stakeholder engagement activities and Council initiatives.

On rare occasions, weekend work and travel may be required within the region and to key visitor markets including Sydney, Newcastle and the Central Coast, as well as interstate travel for industry conferences, learning and development opportunities, and tourism summits.

Salary and Benefits

The salary range being offered for this full-time position is $3,246.40 - $3,653.50 gross per fortnight plus superannuation which equates to an annual salary of $84,406.40 - $94,991.00 gross plus superannuation (dependent on skills, qualifications and experience).
