About the Role

Carehero is seeking experienced and highly skilled Disability Support Workers to join a specialist support team in Melbourne's Eastern Suburbs.

This casual position involves supporting a young man with severe spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy and highly complex medical needs within his family home. This is a rewarding opportunity for support workers who are passionate about delivering exceptional care and who are confident working within a complex clinical environment.

Due to the complexity of supports required, this role is best suited to experienced disability support workers who are committed to providing safe, person-centered care and are willing to undertake a structured training and competency program.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Providing high-level personal care and complex disability support

  • Assisting with transfers using hoists, slings and specialised equipment

  • Supporting respiratory management and positioning requirements

  • Assisting with overnight supports and monitoring

  • Supporting community access and participation where appropriate

  • Working closely with the participant's family, nursing team and allied health professionals

  • Following detailed support plans, emergency procedures and clinical protocols

  • Maintaining accurate records and progress notes

  • Participating in ongoing training and competency assessments

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 12 months experience in disability support, complex care or healthcare settings

  • Experience supporting participants with high physical support needs highly regarded

  • Confidence working within structured care plans and clinical environments

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Ability to remain calm and responsive during emergency situations

  • Commitment to providing safe, respectful and person-centered supports

  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check

  • Current First Aid and CPR Certificate

  • Full Australian Driver's License

  • Current Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
