The Geelong College is seeking an enthusiastic, reliable and customer-focused Catering Assistant to support the delivery of food and beverage services within the College community.

The role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a team environment, takes pride in providing excellent customer service, and is committed to maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene and presentation.

About the Role

Reporting to the Catering Manager, the Catering Assistant will assist with food and beverage service, dining room operations, and general kitchen support.

The successful applicant will contribute to creating a welcoming dining experience for students, staff and visitors while ensuring compliance with food safety and workplace health and safety requirements.

Working Hours

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday

5:30pm - 7:30pm

Occasional weekend work may be required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience working in a dining room, hospitality, catering or food service environment
  • Current Food Handling Certificate
  • Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) Certificate
  • Barista certification or demonstrated barista training
  • Knowledge of coffee preparation techniques, espresso extraction, milk texturing and beverage presentation will be highly regarded
  • Previous experience working in a school environment will be highly regarded
  • Current Working with Children Check (Employee), or ability to obtain
  • Evidence of Right to Work in Australia
  • Completion of Asthma First Aid in Schools Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
  • Complete the Victorian Department of Education's Protecting Children – Mandatory Reporting and Other Obligations training

Multiple Opportunities Available

The College is currently advertising both a Catering Assistant position and a Canteen Attendant position. Applicants are welcome to apply for either role or both roles. Depending on operational requirements and the skills and availability of the successful candidate, there may be an opportunity for the two positions to be combined into a single role.
