About The Role
Seeking a talented and driven Data Scientist / Data Engineer with a passion for financial advice and wealth management. This is a hands-on, high-impact role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys transforming complex financial data into actionable insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data infrastructure.
- Develop and deploy machine learning models, predictive analytics, and statistical solutions.
- Collaborate with product, operations, and business stakeholders to deliver data-driven outcomes.
- Maintain data quality, governance frameworks, and documentation standards.
- Analyze complex datasets related to financial advice, consumer behavior, and market trends.
- Develop dashboards, reporting tools, and data products for internal and external stakeholders.
- Stay current with AI/ML, analytics, and financial advice industry developments.
Essential
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong understanding of the Australian financial advice ecosystem, including AFSL structures, advisers, product platforms, and regulatory frameworks (FASEA, DDO, Best Interests Duty).
- Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT pipelines, SQL, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), and workflow orchestration tools.
- Strong Python programming skills for data processing, modelling, and analysis.
- Practical experience in statistics, machine learning, and predictive analytics.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain insights to technical and non-technical audiences.
Highly Regarded
- Experience in financial advice technology, wealth management, or fintech.
- Familiarity with ASIC data sources and the Financial Advisers Register.
- Experience building data products or analytics platforms in commercial environments.
- Exposure to NLP and unstructured data analysis.
- Previous startup or scale-up experience.
