Industry Lead Sport and Entertainment
News Corp Australia
What's the role?
As the Industry Lead – Sport & Entertainment, you will be responsible for deeply understanding where the Sport and Entertainment industries are heading, translating those cultural and consumer shifts into high-value commercial opportunities, and influencing product development. Your ultimate goal is to cement News Australia as the most valuable, influential marketing partner in those industries across the country.
In this position, you will have true autonomy to shape the commercial future of this sector, collaborating closely with Strategy, Insights, Editorial, and Marketing teams in a highly cross-functional environment.
This isn't a traditional sales role, and it isn't just about managing a category. This is a high-impact growth role within our Industry Growth Team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation of the emerging industries framework for the sector, aligning News Australia's immense media ecosystem with fast-moving consumer behaviors.
- Lead the market activation of our proprietary "Fame Formula," helping brands transform "what’s on" into "must-see" cultural moments that cultivate deep fandom.
- Partner closely with Strategy, Insights & Planning (SIP) and cross-functional leadership to build proactive, insight-driven commercial solutions.
- Work hand-in-hand with internal product, editorial, and sales teams to unlock incremental revenue from new and lapsed clients.
- Act as the ultimate internal and external ambassador. You will attend major industry festivals and conferences to bring first-hand trends back to the business, keeping us ahead of the curve.
- Drive consistent revenue growth, manage the conversion and success rate of proactive pitches, and maintain exceptional stakeholder satisfaction scores.
Who are you?
- You bring a minimum of 6+ years of experience working within a Media Agency, Sport/Entertainment marketing division, or client-side marketing role.
- You have a deep understanding of popular culture, audience behaviors, and trends, with a proven ability to convert cultural moments into high-impact media strategies and commercial outcomes.
- You understand how to speak to film studios, streaming platforms, gaming publishers, sporting bodies, and rights holders to solve their growth pain points. Simultaneously, you know how to help non-endemic consumer brands tap into the passion of sport and entertainment to achieve their own business outcomes.
- You possess exceptional relationship-building skills, with a comfortable track record of taking the lead on pitches and aligning diverse internal teams (sales, editorial, product) to bring strategies to life.
- You are comfortable working with insights, data, and analytics to guide your strategic decisions and measure campaign success.
